MaineCare

What is MaineCare?

Maine’s version of Medicaid, or MaineCare, is a joint federal and state program administered by the Department of Health and Human Services. If you can’t afford to pay for medical care or long-term care, MaineCare may pay for that care if you qualify.

MaineCare Planning and Application Legal Assistance

As elder law attorneys, we assist clients with MaineCare eligibility, including preparing MaineCare applications and representing clients before DHHS. Medicaid benefits are generally not available until an applicant has exhausted his or her available resources but you might be surprised how many people could qualify if appropriate steps were taken. Medicaid planning strategies often emphasize shifting assets and the use of estate planning documents to achieve MaineCare eligibility. Preplanning may also include the use of irrevocable trusts.

Avoid MaineCare crisis planning. Be proactive and speak to our elder law attorneys today.
