Tax season is here! It can be a breeze for some people and for others, not so much. We are all pretty much aware of the options available to us. Turbo Tax is a popular one for the DIY set. Some people have an accountant bear the burden, and responsibility, of filing it for them. The costs can vary from service to service and are also dependent on how simple or complex your taxes are. The complexity that comes with taxes can be especially taxing (see what we did there?) on those who are living on a fixed income. Our aging population can also have a difficult time keeping up with the changing laws and even confusing the numbers (this is also not limited to Senior citizens by any means- plenty of the younger set are numerically and mathematically challenged!). Fortunately, there are resources available to seniors where they can get their taxes done for free!
We have even looked around locally and found several clinics in our area sponsored by AARP Foundation Tax-Aide running now to April 15, 2020 :
The York Senior Center in York, ME on Tuesdays 10 am- 3 pm 207-363-1036.
The South Berwick Community Center in South Berwick, ME Fridays 11 am- 3 pm (by appointment only!) 207-384-3310.
The Kittery Community Center Wednesdays 11 am-4 pm and Thursdays 4 pm- 7 pm (Walk-in basis)
The Kennebunk Library Thursdays from 9:30 am – 12:30 pm (walk-in Basis).
Louis Graves Memorial Library in Kennebunkport Wednesdays 9 am- 1 pm (walk-in Basis).
Wells Public Library on Tuesdays from 1 pm- 6 pm (by appointment only!) 207-710-0979.
